Kawana Soccer Club would like to congratulate the following teams on making it into the Finals for 2010:
The U14 Girls who made 4th spot coached by Michael Postlethwaite.
The U17(2) team coached by Les 'Casper' Fleming.
The Premier Reserve Mens team came in 4th spot coached by Brad Lloyd.
The Division 4 Yellows coached by Lee Chapman/Dean Jacobs finishing in 2nd place.
And a huge congratulations to our Division 4 Blue team (The Zimmers) who took out the Premiership.
We'd like to wish all these teams the very best in the Finals.

Zimmers vs the young Turks

Well put on the right show and the fans will turn up. Friday night’s Zimmers VS the Young Turks was no exception.
Those arriving close to kick off time getting through the turnstiles were then struggling to find a seat and it reminded some of the longer serving members of when Kawana was the yard stick in the Sunshine Coast comp.
The two teams were doing their best to entertain on a nice flat pitch. The game started with the young Turks having the better of the early exchange; however the Zimmers had a different idea on what they were doing. They were the premiers and to push the point home they lobbed the keeper and went one up. The young Turks, while a little shaken was soon back on level terms and duly lobbed the Zimmer keeper- one all.
Shortly after that the Zimmers had a good chance to go in front but fine work from the keeper saved the moment. However shortly after that the Zimmers struck and nosed in front. While the game had plenty of end to end moments, the old Zimmers having a revolving door to replace players with the interchange the young Turks having the bare number.
So the Zimmers are back in the Grand Final.
The club two sides have played each other four times this season and it two wins each.
Next week the club expects both teams to turn up at our ground again one to play and one to watch who could be their opponents in the Grand final.
As well as support their club and have a Kawana Force vs Kawana Force Grand final.
So if you are stuck for a great night come along to finals football and Cheer the Force to Victory.

Kawana Soccer Club will be holding the Junior Presentation on Sunday 12th September and Senior Presentation on Saturday 25th September.
Preparations are well underway for both events and look to be a highlight of Kawana Soccer Clubs football calendar.

Anne Laird Junior Sports Person of the Year

Nominations are now being taken for our Kawana Soccer Club 'Junior Sports Person of the Year'.
This trophy is awarded to a junior member of our club who not only excels in our sport but across the sporting arena. This may include Little Athletics, surf lifesaving, school athletics, school netball, school football, cross country, swimming etc.
Please send nominations to admin@kawanasoccer.com.au along with a summary of your child’s achievements.
The winner will be announced at the Junior Presentation Sunday 12th September 2010.
Anne Laird, a tireless worker for the club tragically lost her life in a car accident. This perpetual trophy is awarded each year in Anne’s memory and is presented to the top “All Rounder”.

Doing What We Do Best...Silly Sunday's Plans

Well as we all know it, finals time is here and almost complete. Apart from the high's and low's it brings us on the field, it also brings us that highly anticipated day...Silly Sunday. This year Kawana Hotel have kind enough to come to the party, and supply us with a section of the hotel to enjoy the afternoon of Sunday 12th September. They have stipulated a few rules though in saying this. 1.Must be dressed in a form of a clown (No usual get up or playing strip permitted) 2.Commences from 12:00pm 3.Have fun 4. No U.... Sundie and most importantly 5.Behave!!! Prior to this taking place, if we could have as many senior members to the junior presentation from 9am at Kawana Soccer fields to lend a hand and enjoy the morning with our rising stars that would be appreciated. Get your wigs on and well see you Sunday, with hopefully a few pieces of silverware to join in the fun as well. | |
